Corporate Social Responsiblity:Salomon’s Foundation helps mountain’s professionals: 30000€ of grants each year. Occasional actions as a support for Handiraid in 2009&2010. In the framework of mobility policy, Salomon begins a procedure of dialogue with Annecy’s municipality.
Environmental site management: Salomon's environmental policy has 3 main aims - reduction of CO2 emissions, elimination of toxicity in end products, reduction of the company’s dependency on non-renewable resources. The brand employs a full-time environmental manager, and has implemented rubbish sorting, videoconferencing, training and awareness raising for its employees (more than 300 employes trained), newsletter,etc… The company has also set up an inter-company carpooling system and travel programme. A mobility manager was hired to implement a mobility policy in the company. In November 2012, a bicycle and pedestrian paths will be available leaving directly from the company.
Education & information: The brands environmental engagements are presented on the company web site. The company is working on the future compulsory environmental labelling with governmental agencies especially for backpacks. In all shops, bags are recyclable and made of recycled materials with natural ink. All furnitures in all shops have been evaluated on environment: toxicity, CO2 emissions,etc…
Supply chain: since 2009, Bureau Veritas audits suppliers each year (30 sites each year) and the evaluation sheet is available at Hong Kong office.
Certifications: Salomon has an internal EMS which has been developed along ISO 14001 guidelines, but which is not certified. Application of the EU REACH directive. Environmental charter available on the website with wastes management and implementation of a following programme to reduce energy, water and materials consumption .
GHG emissions: Carbon footprint analysis realized each two year since 2008 by Deloitte. Since 2009, 10% of automotive is changed to reduce CO2 emissions from 20%. Economic activity increased but the level of emissions didn’t follow, it remained stable.
Environmental commitments: Partnership with Mountain Riders and Prioriterre. Salomon is a foundation member of sustainable development commission of OSV.
Durability: Endurance tests carried out on the products for a compromise performance / durability. Gear has a two year guarantee Current study with OSV for the creation of a collective repair center with other outdoor brands.
Global Eco design process: Several LCA’s of shoes were outsourced, LCA’s & AQLCA are now carried out internally. The brand has implemented a transversal committee for the piloting of the eco design process, and develope internal LCA/AQLCA tools, whilst training users. Design guidelines have been issued for the of use of eco friendly materials, marketing briefs & design briefs . The R&D committee is composed of a representative of each business unit working on an action plan about eco materials.

End of life & Recycling : Work with Tri Vallées for skis recycling. Participation in the recovery programme for textile with OSV, Techterra, and EOG.
Non toxicity: Products meet the SO1 requirements which are equivalent to the application of the EU REACH directive, the Oeko-Tex standards and in country legislation.
Packaging & logistics: - The logistics chain CO2 emissions are currently being measured. Salomon reduced packaging on snowboard boots and bindings following the packaging’s AQLCA CO2 emissions from supply chain are currently measured but no actions have been implemented for the moment.
